At a glance
  • Laser hair removal targets the follicle to reduce regrowth over time.
  • FRAC3 uses fast Nd:YAG energy delivery designed for efficient, consistent coverage.
  • Most areas need a series because hair grows in cycles.
  • Results look best with consistent spacing, gentle aftercare, and sun protection.

What is laser hair removal

Laser hair removal is a medical-grade method that reduces unwanted hair by delivering energy to the hair shaft and follicle. Over a series of treatments, active follicles are disabled so hair grows back finer, slower, and in many cases significantly reduced.

It is not a one-and-done service because hair does not grow all at once. The goal is to catch hair in its most treatable phase repeatedly until you hit your reduction target.

Why FRAC3 laser hair removal

FRAC3 hair removal uses an Nd:YAG wavelength approach that is designed to reach deeper follicles while respecting the surface of the skin. The delivery pattern is built for precise, consistent coverage so treatments feel controlled, even on larger areas.

Depth and reach
Designed to target follicles that sit deeper, which matters for areas like legs, bikini, and back.
Even coverage
A structured delivery approach helps reduce missed spots and supports more uniform results across the area.
Skin tone aware
Nd:YAG based approaches are commonly used across a wide range of skin tones with proper settings and assessment.
The bottom line

Smooth skin is not a luxury. It is fewer ingrowns, fewer rash days, and less time thinking about hair at all.

How it works

The laser energy is absorbed by pigment in the hair shaft and converted to heat. That heat is transferred toward the bulb and follicle structures to reduce future growth. The key is delivering enough energy to affect the follicle while keeping surrounding skin comfortable and calm.

Hair growth cycles in plain language
  • Anagen is the active growth phase and is typically the most responsive to treatment.
  • Catagen is a transition phase where the follicle is changing state.
  • Telogen is a resting phase where the hair is not strongly connected to the follicle.

This is why spacing matters. Repeated sessions catch new hairs as they enter the active growth phase.

What to expect

01
During
Quick pulses with a warm snap feel. Most patients describe it as manageable and fast, especially as hair density decreases across the series.
02
After
Some redness or a mild sun-kissed look is common for a few hours. You can usually return to normal life the same day.
03
1 to 3 weeks later
Hair often sheds from the area. This is not regrowth. It is treated hair releasing from the follicle as planned.
6–8
Sessions for most areas. The exact number depends on hair density, hormones, and the treatment zone. Maintenance can be occasional once your target reduction is reached.

Prep and aftercare

Simple preparation and consistent aftercare are what separate good results from great ones. Nothing complicated, just a few habits to build around your sessions.

Before each session
  • Shave 12 to 24 hours before, do not wax or pluck.
  • Avoid active sunburn or heavy tanning.
  • Skip self-tanner on the treatment area.
After each session
  • Keep the area cool and clean for 24 hours.
  • Avoid hot yoga, saunas, and intense heat same day.
  • Use SPF if the area is sun-exposed.
Between sessions
  • Shaving is fine. Avoid waxing and plucking.
  • Gentle exfoliation can help prevent ingrowns later.
  • Let us know about any new medications or skin changes.

Safety note: timing and settings depend on skin tone, hair type, and medical history. Your provider will tailor the plan at your consultation.

Myths vs facts

Myth
"Laser works in one session."
Reality
Hair grows in cycles. A series of sessions is required to catch follicles during their active phase and achieve long-term reduction.
Myth
"It makes hair grow back thicker."
Reality
Treated hair typically returns finer, slower, and in reduced density. The opposite of thicker is exactly what you should expect over time.

Who is a good candidate

Most healthy adults are suitable candidates. The best plans start with a quick assessment so we can match settings to your skin tone, review your history, and set realistic expectations by body area.

01
You want long-term reduction, not constant maintenance
Done with the shaving routine, the waxing appointments, or the ingrown cycle. Laser hair removal is the practical long-term upgrade.
02
You have a wide range of skin tones
The Nd:YAG wavelength used in FRAC3 is commonly chosen for its suitability across a broader range of skin tones compared to other laser types.
03
You are in generally good health
We screen for recent sun exposure, history of pigment sensitivity, active skin infections, and medications or conditions that may increase sensitivity.
04
You want to start where it bothers you most
Not sure where to begin? We usually recommend starting with the area where ingrowns or irritation affect you most. Results there tend to feel most impactful early.

Your questions, answered.

Many areas do best with a series of 6 to 8 sessions. Your exact number depends on the area, hair density, and hormonal factors. We will map a tailored plan at your consultation before any treatment begins.
The goal is long-term reduction. Most patients achieve dramatic, lasting results after completing their series. Some hormonally influenced areas (chin, upper lip, bikini) may benefit from occasional maintenance sessions over time, but the overall burden is dramatically reduced compared to shaving or waxing.
Most patients describe quick heat or a snapping sensation during pulses. Comfort tends to improve as hair becomes finer and less dense across your series. Sensitive areas can be managed with a topical numbing option if needed.
Yes, shaving is absolutely fine between sessions and is actually the recommended approach. Avoid waxing and plucking because they remove the hair shaft from the follicle, which is the precise target of the laser. No shaft in the follicle means the treatment has nothing to work with.
Keep the area cool, avoid friction and tight clothing over the area, and skip harsh exfoliants or active ingredients for a day or two. Mild redness or small bumps are a normal response and typically resolve within hours. If anything feels unusual or persistent, contact the clinic and we will guide you through it.
Nd:YAG based approaches like FRAC3 are commonly chosen for a wide range of skin tones, including deeper Fitzpatrick types, because the wavelength bypasses surface melanin more effectively than shorter wavelength lasers. Proper assessment, calibrated settings, and experienced technique are what matter most for safe and effective results across all skin types.
