Achieve smoother,
healthier skin with
microneedling.

Microneedling uses fine, precisely calibrated needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin — triggering the body's natural healing cascade. The result is accelerated collagen and elastin production, visibly improving skin texture, tone, and firmness over a series of treatments.

The Science

How microneedling
works.

How microneedling works — animated diagram showing radiofrequency needle mechanism
01
Micro-Injury Induction
Fine needles create thousands of tiny, controlled punctures in the skin's surface — each one a trigger for the body's natural wound-healing response.
02
Collagen & Elastin Stimulation
The healing cascade releases growth factors that stimulate fibroblasts, accelerating the production of new collagen and elastin — the structural proteins behind firm, youthful skin.
03
Skin Remodelling
New collagen fibres remodel the skin from within — softening fine lines, smoothing uneven texture, and progressively reducing the depth of acne scars.
04
Enhanced Product Absorption
The micro-channels created during treatment dramatically increase the skin's permeability — allowing topical serums and growth factors to penetrate far deeper than normal.

Post-treatment
care guide.

What to expect after your session — and how to protect your investment in the days that follow.

1
Redness & Mild Swelling
Expect 1–2 days of redness and mild swelling, similar to a sunburn. This typically subsides fully within a week.
2
Sensitivity & Light Peeling
The treated area may feel sensitive and dry, with potential mild peeling as the skin sheds and regenerates.
3
Sun Protection is Essential
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun exposure to prevent hyperpigmentation and protect healing skin.
4
No Makeup for 24 Hours
Refrain from makeup immediately after treatment to avoid introducing bacteria to open micro-channels.
Post-Treatment Recovery

What to expect,
day by day.

Recovery from microneedling is mild and predictable. Here's what a typical healing timeline looks like — from the first flush of redness to fully revealed results.

Microneedling recovery timeline — Day 1, Day 2, Day 5, Day 7
1
Day 1 — Flush & Sensitivity
Skin appears red and feels warm — similar to a mild sunburn. This is the inflammatory response initiating the healing cascade. Avoid touching the face and keep the area clean.
2
Day 2 — Dryness & Tightness
Redness begins to subside. Skin may feel tight and dry. Light moisturizer and SPF are essential — avoid actives, retinols, or exfoliants entirely.
5
Day 5 — Light Peeling
Mild flaking and peeling as the outer skin sheds to reveal fresher skin beneath. Resist the urge to pick — allow the skin to shed naturally for best results.
7
Day 7 — Glowing, Renewed Skin
Most patients are back to their full routine. Skin looks brighter and feels smoother — this is just the beginning. Collagen remodelling continues for weeks to come.

Most Commonly Asked

Microneedling FAQs —
Vancouver patients.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a device with fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These trigger the body's healing response, boosting collagen and elastin production — improving texture, reducing fine lines, minimizing scars, and promoting a youthful appearance.
Most patients begin to see noticeable improvements within 4 to 6 weeks after their first session. Full results continue to develop over several months as collagen production progressively improves skin texture and firmness.
Yes — microneedling is highly effective for both. By promoting collagen production and accelerating skin cell turnover, it helps smooth uneven texture, diminish the depth of wrinkles, and visibly reduce the appearance of acne scarring over a series of treatments.
Typically, 3 to 6 sessions spaced approximately 4 to 6 weeks apart are recommended for optimal results. The exact number depends on your specific skin concerns and goals, which will be discussed during your consultation at Monarch MD.
A topical numbing cream is applied first to minimize discomfort. A handheld device with fine needles is then gently moved across the skin to create the micro-injuries. The full procedure typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, and there is mild redness afterward — similar to a light sunburn.
Downtime is minimal. Most patients experience mild redness and swelling for 24 to 48 hours. By day three, the skin typically returns to normal and light makeup can be applied to cover any lingering redness.
Microneedling is generally very well-tolerated. Most patients describe the sensation as similar to fine sandpaper being moved lightly across the skin. A topical anesthetic is applied beforehand to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.
Keep the skin clean and well-moisturized. Avoid direct sun exposure and apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. Refrain from harsh skincare products, actives, or exfoliants for at least one week to allow the skin to heal and the collagen remodelling process to begin undisturbed.
